Help for those trying to find a course via Clearing

We have just been alerted to a new site that can help in the search for appropriate courses in Clearing.
This has been put together by bestCourse4me.com and they call it their Clearing Course Finder. Students choose their A level subjects and grades, and the subject they want to study from a drop-down menu The Course Finder then shows a list of suggested universities to approach first for a clearing place, based on previously accepted A-level grades for their chosen courses.

Don't forget, that courses come and go on Clearing throughout this period, right up until 25th October. With this sort of information at your fingertips you can help your students make the right choice at the right university.

Opportunities for a Year out in Industry (YINI), now that results are known

How can The Year In Industry help?

The 'Year in Industry' (YINI) is a scheme run by the not-for-profit charity EDT, which is designed to help students find a paid work placement. No matter what your subject background is, we have placements that are suited to you, and which employers are looking for students to begin ASAP.

By joining YINI, we will help you to produce a strong CV, give you training to succeed in interviews, and can open doors to organisations that only make placements through us. You will also be provided with a personal mentor throughout your placement, so we will support you all of the way.

A 'Year in Industry' placement can also grant you the following benefits:
  • Complete the LUMEN Maths course alongside a placement, boosting your UCAS application and demonstrating your commitment to maintaining your mathematical abilities
  • 70% of graduates regret their choice of degree... You're going to be investing >£30,000, so what better way to confirm your decision than trying a career in it first?
  • The maintenance loan only covers 2/3rds of the average students' living costs, saving away money from a paid work placement can really help to reduce your financial stresses
